Check in

Arrival in Ferrol, a coastal city and the preferred starting point of the English Way.

Ferrol – Neda (15 km)

The first part of the journey can be traveled in just one morning, as there is little difficulty to it. Before you leave Ferrol, we recommend visiting its port and the modernist Magdalena neighborhood. Along the way, the monastery of San Martiño de Xubia and its romanesque style 12th century church are worth a stop.

Neda - Pontedeume (15 km)

Before leaving Neda, you can visit the baroque church of Santa María, where they keep a Tudor style Christ that arrived in the town in 1550 aboard a British ship. Once in Pontedeume, you cannot miss the Tower of Andrade, a structure from the 14th century, all that is left from a medieval fortress.

Pontedeume - Miño (10 km)

This stretch combines coastal views with walks through forests. Miño is a coastal town known for its beautiful beaches.

Miño - Betanzos (11 km)

Along the way, you will be able to visit the the church of San Pantaleón de las Viñas, an iconic point of the English Way. In Betanzos, capital of one of the seven provinces of the old Kingdom of Galicia, you can visit all the monuments that attest to the town’s long history and try their renowned potato omelette.

Betanzos - Leiro (11 km)

The English Way leaves the coast and enters the interior of Galicia, with many small villages along the way. Midway through you can visit the church of San Estevo de Cos. This stretch combines paved roads and unpaved rural paths.

Leiro - Bruma-Mesón do Vento (17 km)

This stretch of the Camino is the most challenging one, and the highest point of the English Way at 454 meters. As you walk, you will leave behind typical Galician churches, chapels and cruceiros (monumental crucifixes).

Bruma-Mesón do Vento - A Rúa (10 km)

The route will take us through small rural villages, walking alongside chapels and cruceiros. Along the way is the village of Cruz, where you can see a local artist’s sculptures as you walk: the Apostle Santiago and a dinosaur among them.

A Rúa - Sigüeiro (14)

The second-to-last stretch will take you through rural areas and paved roads as you enjoy the greenery of Galicia’s countryside.

Sigüeiro - Santiago (16 km)

The last walking day is 15 km long, so you will arrive in Santiago early enough to enjoy the city. You are finally in Santiago, the apostle’s final place of rest and the end of your journey! Do not forget to go to the Pilgrim’s Office with your Pilgrim Passport if you want to get your Compostela (Pilgrim Certificate).
