O Ribeiro route: Galician vineyards by the riverside
On the O Ribeiro route we will be able to see first hand the day to day life of one of Galicia’s most iconic winemaking communities. We will hike through forests alongside the Miño, Galicia’s most important river. There, we will visit vineyards and wineries, where we will taste the famous local wines. If the weather permits, we will travel the Miño by boat. But if it is too cold for that, we will go to the hot springs in Prexigueiro and enjoy the natural warm water. Lastly, we will visit Ribadavia’s jewry.
Our day will start with a hiking route by the riverside, which we will follow towards a small village called Pazos de Arenteiro. After the hike, we will see Castrelo de Miño’s reservoir. Once there, we will visit a traditional winerie. We will walk through the vineyard and taste the famous Ribeiro wines.
If the weather allows it, we will get on a boat and sail along the Miño. It will be the perfect time to have a picnic: all that walking will have made us hungry!
But, what if the weather is cold and rainy? Then, we will change the boat ride for a warm bath on Prexigueiro’s thermal springs.
Lastly, we will close the day with a visit to Ribadavia’s old Jewish quarter.
