The Lighthouse Way

The Lighthouse Way or Camino de los Faros (Camiño dos Faros in Galician language) will take you to discover one of the most spectacular and unspoiled regions of Galicia. This path passes through the heart of the Costa da Morte area (Coast of the Death), following cliffs, endless beaches, and the unforgettable views of the Atlantic Ocean.

And, of course, the magnificent lighthouses we will see along the way: the great Roncudo Lighthouse (in Corme) or Cabo Vilán (in Camariñas)… Not to forget the most popular one, the Finisterre Lighthouse, one of the most enigmatic spots of the Camino de Santiago. There are magic pilgrims who claim that Finisterre is the place where the magic begins.

The full Lighthouse Way can be completed in eight walking days, from Malpica to Finisterre. You can walk all of it, or divide it into two sections: Malpica to Arou, and Arou to Finisterre.

We recommend this route to pilgrims with a minimum level of experience. There are many ups and downs along the way, so a minimum level of fitness will be required to face this challenge. Also, it is quite a recent route, still in process of being signposted. For this reason, the path will not be as well marked as other Camino de Santiago routes, like the French Way for example.

The Lighthouse Way is not an official Camino de Santiago route, for this reason in this case you wold not qualify for the Compostela (Pilgrim Certificate).

We are not trying to discourage you if you are planning to walk the Lighthouse Way, it is in indeed a spectacular route and you do not have to be a professional to walk it. We just want to explain some of the basics, so you can decide if it’s the perfect walk for you.

As we always say, there is one route for each pilgrim. Do you date to walk the Lighthouse Way?
