Walk the last 100 km of the Northern Way, from Vilalba to Santiago

Are you thinking about walking the Northern Way, or Camino del Norte, but you do not have enough time to walk more tan 800 km? Do not worry, since you do not have to walk the full Northern Way to get your certificate once in Santiago de Compostela. You just need to walk its last 100 km, that is enough.

We recommend you to walk its last section, all in Galicia region, from Vilalba to Santiago. But you can start anywhere on the way, the itinerary is completely flexible.

This way, you will be able to enjoy the calm and the solitude of the Northern Way on the first stretches, and all the activity once in Arzúa.

From this point, the itinerary will join with the French Way (the most popular route of the Camino de Santiago). That is why the last walking days will be more sociable.

Check in Vilaba

Vilalba - Baamonde (20 km)

The walk from Vilalba to Baamonde will be quiet and pleasant. We recommend to bring food with you, just in case, since facilities along the way can be quite limited.

Baamonde - Miraz (15 km)

Same as the previous day, the path passes through small rural areas. It is a very relaxing walk, but limited in terms of facilities and accommodation.

Miraz - Sobrado dos Monxes (22 km)

Today we will reach the highest point of the whole route, that is Marcela. Highlight of the day: the impressive monastery in Sobrado dos Monxes.

Sobrado dos Monxes - Arzúa (21 km)

We recommend you to enjoy the last walking day of peace and solitude, since the walk from Arzúa will join with the French Way. The route will become more sociable until you reach Santiago de Compostela.

Arzúa - O Pedrouzo (19 km)

Some pilgrims walk from Arzúa to Santiago in one day, but we recommend to stop in O Pedrouzo and enjoy the last day of the walk peacefully.

O Pedrouzo - Santiago de Compostela (20 km)

Last day of the walk, before reaching Santiago de Compostela. For so many pilgrims this can be described as a moment of euphoria, after a couple of days of walks and new challenges.

The Northern Way is perfect for lovers of the countryside, green and unknown places. It is a challenging route regarding the terrain, so it is recommended for experienced hikers.

Cómo llegar

Desde A Coruña Airport

Car or cab: It is 78km with an estimated duration of 50 minutes.
Bus: Take a bus (LÍNEA A4), 20′ ride to the Alfonso Molina bus stop. Once there, go to the bus station and transfer to the bus (ARRIVA) to Vilalba, journey time 1h. To check timetables and more information visit: www.alsa.es and https://arriva.es/es/galicia

Desde Santiago de Compostela Airport

Car or cab: 90km with an estimated duration of 1h.
Bus: Take the bus (LINE 6A) from Santiago de Compostela airport to the station stop. Frequency every 15′ and with an approximate duration of 20′. Another option is to take a cab to the station, with an estimated duration of 15′. Once there, transfer to the bus (ARRIVA) to Vilalba, a journey time of 1 hour and 47 minutes. Desde Vigo Airport

Car or cab: 200km with an estimated duration of 2h.
Bus/train: Take the bus (LINE A) from Vigo Airport to the Urzaiz stop (Estación / Cotomondongo wall). Frequency every 30′. Another option is to take a cab to the station (10 minutes). Once there, we can take a bus (MONBUS) or train (RENFE) to Santiago de Compostela (journey between 50 minutes to 1h and 30 minutes). In Santiago transfer to the bus (ARRIVA) to Vilalba, a journey of 1 hour and 47 minutes. Repetir es la mejor reseña No hay mejor opinión que repetir la experiencia. Mi primera experiencia con ellos fue en marzo y ahora en septiembre repetí y volveré a hacerlo. Atentos, cumplen todo, modifican lo que les pidas a capricho

Perfecta para tener un Buen Camino Muy buena experiencia, nos organizaron el camino francés desde Sarria tal y como les pedimos saliendo todo perfecto y según lo esperado.

Destacar que fuimos con un bebé y en todo alojamiento contamos con cuna tal y como habíamos pedido.

experiencia muy positiva Hice el camino frances desde sarria, todo muy bien organizado, a media pension,
tanto hoteles y pensiones bastante correctas.
algunos de ellos tenian restaurante, y desde luego es una ventaja, ya que al termino de la etapa del dia podias comer alli,
y sino te hacen un vale para comer muy cerca del alojamiento.
desde luego muy recomendable.
