Check in Ponteceso

Arrival in Ponteceso, starting point of this tour over the Lighthouse Way

Ponteceso – Laxe (25 Km)

On the walk from Ponteceso to Laxe, you will be able to know a bit more about the archeological heritage of Galicia, as you will pass through the Castro A Cibda and the Dolmen Dombate (celtic constructions). You will walk through pines and eucalypt forests, and you will be able to watch many different bird species. The arrival in Laxe is simply spectacular, as you come down you will be able to contemplate the big white sand beach, and the intense blue color of the sea.

Laxe – Arou (17 Km)

This day is the shortest one, only 17 km separate you from Arou, your next destination. It should be highlighted the panoramic view of the Ría de Corme and Laxe, and the small town of Camelle. Here, you will be able to visit the Museum of Man, that was created by a German artist that fell in love with the region and moved there in the 60´s.

Arou – Camariñas (26 Km)

This stage is undoubtedly one of the most iconic of the whole trail. The walk approaching Faro Vilán is the favorite of the majority of the locals. Moreover, you will get familiar with the story of the wreck of the British ship, the Serpent, the English Cemetery… a magical place, full of stories and legends.

Camariñas – Muxía (32 Km)

The path that links Camariñas and Muxia is quite long (32 km), but it will take you over 11 beaches, rural hamlets, forests and watermills. The walk ends up in Muxia, a lovely fishing village that was sadly hit, a few years ago, by the Prestige oil tanker disaster. We recommend you to go to the Tourist Office, and ask for the Muxiana!

Muxía – Nemiña (24 Km)

Today the path will take you to the most Occidental point of Spain, Cabo Touriñán (and not Finisterre, as most of the people think). Do not forget to ask the locals about this if you wish to start a conversation with them, as they love to talk and talk about it! You will finish in Nemiña beach, where you will be able to go for a quick swim before you head off.

Nemiña – Finisterre (26 Km)

Finally, the last day of the Lighthouse Trail will take you to one of the most popular places of Galicia, Finisterre. It is a long walk, so we recommend you to be ready for the last effort. But of course, the scenery from Monte Facho, or the sunset from the Finisterre Lighthouse will be just reward.

Standard category

1* and 2* hotels

These hotels offer private rooms with private bathrooms as well as other additional services that may vary depending on the type of category: restaurant service, television, room service, dry cleaning, ironing service, etc. It is common to stay in this type of hotels in the cities along the Camino.

Hostels and pensions

These accommodations have the necessary services to cover the basic needs of cleanliness and rest at a more moderate price than the hotels . Officially, hostels and guesthouses are 1-star accommodations. However, this rating should not be taken into account when evaluating the level of comfort and quality of their services.

Superior category

3*, 4* and 5* Hotels

Typical in the large cities along the El Camino. They can be family hotels or international hotel chains. They are perhaps the most expensive alternative, although you can find different price levels according to the category and services they offer.

Hoteles Boutique

These are small accommodations characterized by having few rooms and providing personalized attention. They are hotel concepts with a modern style and their own character. They can be between 1* and 5*.

National Paradores of Spain

This is a public hotel chain that manages a network of almost 100 charming hotels distributed throughout the Iberian Peninsula. The establishments are located in buildings of cultural interest and great historical value, and stand out for their scenic, artistic or natural interest (including ancient palaces, monasteries, fortresses, convents, fortresses…).

Rural tourism lodgings

Rural houses, pazos, inns, rectories, castles, monasteries, farmhouses… These are historic buildings of great architectural and patrimonial value. So much so, that this characteristic sometimes gives them the status of “luxury accommodation” despite of the fact that they are often rustic constructions in which natural stone and wood predominate.
