Stage 6: Padrón-Santiago de Compostela

Stage 6 of the Santiago Way A Orixe, which runs between Padrón and Santiago de Compostela, marks a significant stretch in the pilgrim’s journey, covering approximately 25 kilometers. Starting from Padrón, with its rich history linked to the Jacobean pilgrimage, walkers embark on a journey that culminates in the emblematic city of Santiago de Compostela.

The path winds through rolling fields, quiet forests and small villages, giving pilgrims the opportunity to reflect on their journey and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings. As they advance, the terrain becomes more mountainous, anticipating the arrival at the top of Monte do Gozo, from where the first views of the towers of the Cathedral of Santiago are obtained.

The stage culminates in Santiago de Compostela, the spiritual destination of the pilgrimage. The imposing cathedral, with its Plaza del Obradoiro, welcomes walkers with a sense of achievement and solemnity. The city’s vibrant atmosphere, its narrow cobbled streets and the opportunity to hug the statue of the Apostle Santiago in the cathedral add an exciting touch to this last stage of the Santiago Way A Orixe.
