Walking the Camino is an enjoyable experience, but it is always better to be prepared for any trouble. Here are some possible Camino de Santiago problems and the best ways to solve them. Don’t let anything spoil your adventure!
“I have suffered an injury”
In case of an injury that prevents you from walking, our recommendation is that you keep following the set journey. You can move from a point to another by taxi, and still enjoy sightseeing once you get to your set destination.
Even though we do not accept changes once you start your trip, we will try to help you as much as we can. However, remember that clients must cover any additional costs.
“I can’t find my luggage!”
If you cannot find your luggage when you get to your accommodation, call our emergency number. There may have been a mix up with the delivery place. We will contact the carrier and look for your luggage. And don’t worry, they always turn up!
“Hotel wants me to pay for the reservation again”
Sometimes hotel staff are seasonal employees who are not familiar with the agreements between agencies and their establishments. So, if there are any misunderstandings, feel free to call our emergency number. We will solve it in a moment’s time.
“I have lost my way”
Please keep in mind that even though we have an emergency number available 24/7, it is very hard to help orient you in the Camino, since we cannot be there physically with you. The Camino de Santiago is well signaled and the trails are easy to follow, but if you get disoriented the best thing to do is to look for a reference point (such as a bar, a restaurant or a shop). Once you find a reference point, you can call your lodging and ask them to send a taxi to wherever you are. Do keep in mind that clients must cover any of these additional trips.
“I have hired a transfer but my flight was delayed”
If you have hired a transfer from the airport to your starting point and your flight suffers any delay or cancelation, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can inform the driver.
“My hotel cannot find my reservation”
In the unlikely case that they cannot find your reservation once you get to your hotel, we recommend that you ask them to call our emergency number. This problem could be caused by several reasons:
a) You may be following the hotels that appear as examples on the preliminary itinerary, instead of those on your Travel Kit (the ones that we have reserved)
b) The hotel may have written down the name of an agency employee
c) Any other type of confusion
In any case, give us a call and we will solve any of these mix ups as quickly as we can.
You probably won’t suffer any major inconveniences during the Camino, but it is always better to be ready.
